Flower Bed on Pedestal Limoges Box

A bed of flowers rises on a pedestal, like a garden arrangement set out for a special occasion. It was crafted in porcelain and painted by hand in Limoges, France, as a Limoges box.

A Garden on a Pedestal

Raising flowers on a pedestal has always signaled celebration, from wedding receptions to formal dinners. This piece captures that look in miniature, with a lush bed of blooms set high like a centerpiece on a grand table.

Centerpiece of the Shelf

This makes a lovely present for a florist, a wedding planner, a garden club president, or a host who always sets a beautiful table. It also suits a spring birthday, Mother's Day, or a thank-you after a lovely dinner party. Set it on a dining room sideboard, a sunroom table, or in a curio cabinet where it can act as the centerpiece of a floral grouping. Every piece is painted by hand, so the flowers bloom a little differently each time.

Where Limoges Began

Porcelain has been made in Limoges since the late 1700s, after fine kaolin clay was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768. The hard-paste porcelain is fired at very high heat before it is painted.
