Fortune Cookie Porcelain Limoges Box by Rochard

Crack open a fortune cookie and you never quite know what the slip of paper will say, which is half the fun of this porcelain version. Rochard shaped this Limoges box as the folded cookie and hand-painted it in Limoges, France.

Your Lucky Numbers Are

The fortune cookie is a small ritual at the end of a meal, passed around the table so everyone can read their luck aloud. Turning it into porcelain keeps that moment around a little longer. The lid lifts away, leaving room inside for a handwritten fortune of your own.

Good Fortune Pairings

• A Rochard food design, painted by hand in Limoges, France
• Goes well with takeout, dessert and kitchen themed boxes
• Fits a good luck grouping with horseshoes, shamrocks and ladybugs

A Message Tucked Inside

Write a short note, fold it small and slip it in before you hand it over. It works for a new job, a first apartment, a graduation or an engagement, when a wish for good luck feels just right. Some people use it to announce happy news, letting the recipient find the message for themselves. Once it has done its work, it sits nicely on a kitchen windowsill or a desk, ready for the next fortune.

A Kiln Fired Tradition

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, which gives these little boxes their bright, smooth white body before the painters begin.
