US Capitol Building Rochard Limoges Box

The great dome of the United States Capitol rises over this porcelain box, a small salute to the seat of American lawmaking. Rochard made it as a Limoges box and painted it by hand in Limoges, France.

Under the Dome

For visitors to Washington, the Capitol is one of the first sights on the list, and its dome is known around the world. Rochard brings that landmark down to a size that fits in the hand. The painting is done by hand, giving each piece a slightly different finish.

For Those Who Serve

This is a fitting memento for a member of Congress, a legislative staffer, a page or an intern who spent a season on the Hill. It also suits a civics or government teacher, a law school graduate, or a family who just took their first trip to Washington. Set it on a desk in a home office, on a bookshelf next to history books, or on a mantel for the Fourth of July and Presidents Day. American landmark collectors often start with this building and add the rest of the city around it, piece by piece.
